Wayne Fontana


Real name Glyn Geoffrey Ellis was born on 28th October 1945  to Mildred and Dick Ellis in  Manchester UK. he adopted his stage name from Elvis Presley's drummer D J Fontana. He formed the band Wayne Fontana and the Mindbenders in 1962. The group line-up Wayne Fontana (vocals) Eric Stewart (guitar) Bob Lang (bass)  Ric Rothwell (drums)  Their first top ten Um Um Um Um Um Um number 3 in UK was followed by their  most successful selling record  The Game of Love which reached number 1 in the United States 2 in the UK The group's first hit was in 1963 Hello Josephine  After the success of Um Um Um Um Um Um and  The Game of Love hits followed including:  It's Just a Little Bit too Late and She Needs Love mid '65, Wayne  left the group and set out on a solo career with more hits: It Was Easier To Hurt Her 24 Sycamore Come On Home Goodbye Bluebird Pamela, Pamela In his shows he does outstanding renditions of My Girl and Hold Me. He entertained the seafarers on the QE2 for five years, until Cunard sold out to Carnival Cruises. He's appeared on many of the 24 years of the Solid Silver 60s Show and still performs all over the world. Next year he hopes to perform somewhere else.
