Self-penned hit record ‘I Don’t Want To Put A Hold On You’ won the Nation’s heart, overnight Berni went from playing wine bars for £5 a night to ‘Top Of The Pops’ appearing with Abba, Boney M and being mobbed by girls every time he took to the stage. Not bad for the Southport lad who only took up the guitar to pass time on long voyages.
